On October 14th, the Students of Faculty of Management Studies embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to the HEG Limited plant in Mandideep. HEG Limited stands as one of the world’s largest single-site graphite electrode manufacturing Unit . Under the expert guidance of Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Head of the Faculty of Management, and coordinated by faculty coordinators Dr. Manjusha Bhondekar, Ms. Priyal Nagar, Mr. Alok Hajela & Ms. Ayushi Tiwari, this visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the graphite electrode production process and the overall operations of this remarkable plant.
Objectives:
The objectives of the industrial visit were as follows:
Our group explored various sections of the plant:
– Raw Material Processing: Understanding the sourcing and preparation of raw materials, including petroleum coke and needle coke.
– Electrode Production Line: Witnessing the entire electrode manufacturing process, from mixing raw materials to baking and graphitization.
– Quality Control Stations: Learning about rigorous quality checks at every stage to ensure consistent product excellence.
– Safety Measures: Observing safety protocols, protective gear, and emergency procedures.
Interaction with HR Manager Ms. Rishita & other Plant Managers:
We had the privilege of interacting with HEG Limited’s HR Manager & production managers who discussed planning, inventory management, and workforce coordination.
The industrial visit to HEG Limited’s Mandideep Plant was an enriching experience for our students. This visit reinforced classroom learning and inspired our future managers to excel in the manufacturing sector.
