A 10-day Art and Craft workshop was organized by the Faculty of Education and Training, where students were introduced to the intricate art of Madhubani fabric painting. Assistant Professor of Art and Craft, Dr.Supriti Chaturvedi,Profesor provided detailed explanations on the various aspects of painting, specifically focusing on Madhubani fabric painting, and demonstrated techniques through live drawing sessions. The students participated enthusiastically, immersing themselves in the learning experience.
Professor Chaturvedi emphasized the responsibility of bringing Indian art and culture to the younger generation, highlighting that Madhubani art, a traditional and complex style of folk art originating from the Mithila region of India, prominently features mural-style paintings. During the workshop, students created Madhubani art on sarees, sheets, dupattas, and more.
Madhubani painting, being geographically specific, has been awarded GI (Geographical Indication) status. Today, modern Madhubani designs can be found on sarees, dupattas, bags, watches, and other items. This unique art form from Mithila is renowned not only in India but across the globe.
On this occasion, Dr. Neelam Singh,Dean,Education noted that through mastering this art, students can not only become teachers but also skilled entrepreneurs, opening their own businesses and contributing to the preservation and propagation of this beautiful art form.
